Bounce Insurance

I refreshed the website for Bounce, a New Zealand earthquake insurance company, implementing updated branding and improving design and usability.

Bounce needed to launch quickly and cost-effectively, and they wanted something that felt genuinely different from a typical insurance website: approachable, a little playful, and clear enough that visitors would actually understand what they were signing up for.

I forked the codebase from their Californian sister company, Jumpstart, and rebuilt it for the Bounce brand. New design, updated visual identity, and Lottie animations integrated throughout, bringing the site to life in a way that makes a serious subject feel a lot less intimidating. Getting that right required close collaboration with both the founder and a UI designer, and a good understanding of how animation, layout and content work together to guide someone through an unfamiliar product.

It’s been an ongoing relationship since launch. I handle everything from regulatory content updates to building new features, like a responsive interactive chart that helps visitors understand how earthquake-triggered payouts actually work. The founder can share a rough idea and I’ll take it from there, handling both the technical implementation and the design so it fits consistently with the rest of the site. Not having to coordinate multiple people for that kind of work saves time and keeps things moving.

That kind of long-term relationship is something I really value. It means I understand the product, the brand, and what the site needs to do, and the client gets someone they can trust to just get on with it.
